The stark reality today is that taking care of people’s health in the United States is principally an 18 trillion-dollar business called healthcare. This healthcare business involves immense bureaucracies in government, hospitals, and insurance industry that soak up most of this 18 trillion-dollar health bill without accountability nor significant contribution to patient care. More significantly, these bureaucracies impede innovation for improving safety and quality of healthcare in the future.
The Covid-19 Pandemic unmasked the many weaknesses of the current business model of healthcare. Management of patient care concentrated in hospitals was overwhelmed by demand during the Covid-19 Pandemic and their flaws especially with deficiencies of supplies to protect patients and caregivers exposed.
